How to Make Your Own Baby Food

In the world that we live today, additives and preservatives are becoming a problem for many people with weight, how their bodies grow and more we don’t even know. Making your own baby food gives you the chance to really know what you are feeding your baby, to know that you are feeding your child what is really good for them with nothing bad added.

Making your own baby food is cheaper than buying baby food by the jar. You can even make your baby food in just a couple minutes, or you can make it and keep it in the fridge all day long for all the meals during the day when you are too busy. Besides, with all the baby food that you could be buying, what are you going to do with all those jars or boxes and then you would have to get into recycling as well!

What are you going to need to make some baby food for your young child? You can use a microwave or the stove; you can use a fork or a food processor, or even a blender. It depends on what you are most comfortable with in cooking, you might find that a small hand held manual processor is all you need, and they are just a few dollars as well.

How are you going to start out in making baby food?
You can start with canned or fresh vegetables. If you are going to buy canned vegetables, it is important for your baby to have salt free and sugar free vegetables. If you are worried more about preservatives instead of saving money while making baby food, you will need to read the labels for any types of preservatives that you don’t want in your babies food.

In using vegetables that were canned, from the store or that you have canned yourself, you can start by draining off all the juice. The juice is not going to be needed to make baby food. The vegetables are going to be full of juice, or at least enough juice to make the food very soft after you are done ‘mushing’ it.

After draining all the water from the vegetables that you are going to put in the blender, in the food processor, or through the hand mixer, you will next to puree the food until it is almost water like. There will be a little bit of texture to this mixture, but not much.

If you want to make a few days worth of baby food, all you have to do is put some in the fridge for today, and then put the remainder in small, very small, Tupperware containers and put them in the freezer. Some people also like to use ice cube trays for holding their baby food for a few days. You can have a few trays of different types of vegetables or foods that you can choose from at any time!
