Preparing For A Family Reunion - Continued

If you are planning to have the reunion at a restaurant or somewhere like that, make sure that you make arrange to have the food made or brought in if it is a buffet style.  If you are planning a sit down dinner, try and figure out the menu and order the food ahead of time, so that everyone can eat together and no one has to wait.  Bring some entertainment for everyone, maybe some home movies or old pictures of the family might be good. Reminiscing at family reunions is what is all about. Don’t forget about the kids there either; bring something for them to do while the adults are busy.

It is a good idea to have the financial part all planned out to.  Maybe try where all the family members pitch in an equal amount of money to cover the cost of all the expenses.  Another good way is to have a reunion account. This is what my family does.  If you have a reunion once a year, or even every few years, this would be a good thing to do.  There are ways that you can raise money for your family reunions. 

You could have one person from each family bring an item to chance off.  You could sell tickets for these items for a dollar or so, or you just auction them off and raise money that way.  Each family member could also fill a basket with different items and then sell chances for them. You could also make homemade crafts and sell them.  Family members would be sure to enjoy an item that you made yourself. 

There is a lot of planning to do to make your family reunion a good time, but with a little help from everyone, you can make great memories and keep everyone coming back for years.
