Use Containers

Containers are great storage units and they camouflage items that you want to hide.

  • Camouflage a cassette holder- a good way to hide videos on a bookshelf so they look like books.
  • A wooden remote control caddy or basket on the table is a good idea for the remotes and TV Guides.
  • A nice box container is a good way to store and keep CDs safe.
  • A CD or tape tower is an attractive way to store CDs or tapes in a small space.
  • Wicker storage chair or any ottoman is good place to store blankets or pillows.
  • Wicker baskets or bins are great for storing toys.

Daily Upkeep

Schedule cleanup before dinner or bedtime.  It will only take a few minutes and you will be greeted each morning by a clean and relaxing space.  Give everyone in the house a chore to do and that way the whole family is helping.  Keep a box nearby in a closet for books or tapes that you decide to get rid of as the months go by.

When the box is full, give it away.  Schedule tune-ups right before the holidays or at spring-cleaning time.  Go through everything and clean it out again or expand your storage if your clutter keeps growing.
