Limiting Video Games - Continued

Continued from Limiting Video Games

Remember to use movies and games at special times.  Never rely on movies to baby-sit your children all day long.  Your children need to play with other toys to interact and develop mentally.

Try to set limits on the amount of time you allow your children to spend watching television and playing video games.  Encourage reading, set aside a certain amount of reading time for each of your children, the older the child the longer the reading time.

When allowing your children to play video games check the amount of violence and adult language used.  Some images can be very scary for smaller children, which may cause an onset of anxiety and nightmares.

Purchase games and movies that your children are intellectually and emotionally ready to handle.  Never leave your child play or watch television more than two hours a day.  This sets a limit and opens the day for interactive and creative play.
