Homemade Beauty Aids - Continued

Continued from Homemade Beauty Aids

Vegetable shortening such as Crisco makes a good piecrust but it is also good for your skin.  When your hands are feeling dry, rub a little in.  It is natural and has no odor and best of all costs half of what you can spend on the lotions.

This works well for your dry and scaly feet.  Rub some in before you go to bed and put on a pair of old socks.  You will not believe the results in the morning.  Vegetable shortening is also great for your cuticles.

Massage some into your cuticles and it will make them softer and easier to push back.  Another miracle you have in your medicine cabinet is petroleum jelly.  Slather some on your hands before you go to bed and then put on a pair of cotton gloves or even socks.  The jelly forms and airtight layer on your hands and protects them from the drying air and prevents moisture loss.

You will be amazed in the morning at how smooth your skin is.  If you have a minor skin irritation, if you are out of antibiotic cream, just use some cornstarch from the kitchen and sprinkle it on.  It will stop the itching and speed up healing.

I used to prick a vitamin E capsule with a pin and squeeze out the liquid, rubbed it all over my pregnant belly every day, then wore a t-shirt to prevent seepage to outer clothes. I still have an awesome body (plus exercise, of course) in a bikini after giving birth to three kids; largest was 10 lbs.
