Good Dental Habits - ContinuedContinued from Good Dental Habits
A number one leading health problem in school-aged children is tooth decay. That is why it is recommended you and your children see a dentist at least twice a year. Some people have the misconception that since toddlers only have baby teeth (primary) that they are going to fall out anyways, then why spend the money. It is very important that these baby teeth are kept in good health until they are lost naturally. Primary teeth holds a space for a permanent tooth when lost too early the space that is left must be maintained by a “Space Maintainer” to ensure that there will be enough room for the permanent teeth to erupt. “Baby bottle tooth decay” can cause severe tooth decay. Never place a baby to bed with a milk bottle, use water. The teeth that are most likely to be damaged are the upper front teeth but other teeth may also be affecting by this condition. Try to cut back or eliminate sugars, such as cookies, chips and soda. Visit your dentist regularly and brush and floss your teeth a couple of times a day. Here’s to a bright white smile!
