Make yourself relax before bedtime. Think about what you find is most relaxing during your day. Possibly drinking a glass of milk or a cup of cool water can make some people feel relaxed. Other people will find that take a walk, taking a shower or a hot bath is going to relax some people. Reading the newspaper, reading a book, or watching television is going to relax some other people.

Some of the things that you should not do during the evening before you are getting ready to get to bed is heavy exercise. Getting your body moving and your heart pumping is going to make some people stay wide-awake, not able to get to sleep. 

A few people are unable to get to sleep for other reasons. Insomnia can be a problem, if you do not know why you cannot sleep. At times, death, disease, stress and anxiety can be a cause for anxiety so people can’t sleep. Find out the cause of your insomnia, learn to deal with the problem and you will be able to sleep much better. 

Try not to use sleeping pills if you do not have to. If you cannot stay in bed nine to ten hours, a sleeping pill is going to make you feel tired and groggy in the morning. Sleeping pills can become addictive, and your body will not be getting the rest that is needed.
