Discuss the dollar amount in which you in tend to pay verses the amount the caregiver is will to work for.  If the caregiver seems exceptional or irreplaceable than sacrificing the extra dollar amount might be worth it in the long run.

Agree on an overtime pay.  If for some reason you are running late it is only fare that you caregiver gets compensated for their trouble. 

If paying your caregiver in cash then have enough on hand to cover the cost and payment for any unexpected delays, which you might encounter.

When choosing a close friend or family member to baby-sit does not expect them to do the service free of change.  This is a misunderstand that can lead to many hurt feelings.

Choose carefully when selecting a caregiver your children are unique and cannot be replaced.  Take as much care in selecting a caregiver, as you would take selecting a new car or home.
