A Guide For Volunteering - Continued

Continued from A Guide For Volunteering

  • Always over plan, that way you will always have enough to do, plan extra even if you feel a project will last the whole meeting.  At times things get done a little ahead of schedule and we wouldn’t want them getting bored.

The main thing needed when volunteering for sports or scouts is excellent organizational skills.  Keeping organized will help you keep the meeting running smoothly.  Leadership leaves you with a great feeling. Knowing that you are making a difference not only in your child but other children is very rewarding.

If you feel that you truly cannot take complete leadership than help out.  Groups always need the help of others.  With out the volunteerism of others most sports and scouts would not exist.  It also is important never to condemn others that are volunteering for your children’s sports or activities, the are just volunteers and trying their best.  If you feel you have a good input than talk to the coach or leader.

The goal in volunteering is to supply leadership to children and encourage the fundamentals of sports.  Without the leaders and coaches there would be no sports, what else is there in the lives of our children to do. Children need our guidance and leadership to grow into fine young individuals.
