Is your hair looking dull and lifeless? Maybe it has something to do with the way you are caring for your hair. Washing your hair seems like an easy enough task and who would think that you could go wrong?
Follow a few guidelines for keeping not only your hair but also the hair of your family clean and shiny.
Purchase any brand of shampoo. Select a type that is good for your hair type. If your hair type is different from your spouse’s or children’s than purchase several types. If your have oily hair than shampoo for dry hair will only add more oil to your hair. So selecting the right shampoo type is important.
Conditioner is recommended. Two types of conditioner are available including the regular wash-in types (like shampoo) and leave in spray conditioner. These two types are different in many ways. The wash-in type is similar to shampoo you wash it in and rinse it out. The rinse out type leaves you wondering how much is left in after you rinse it out. If you rinse it out lightly than your hair has a heavy dull look and feel. Spray in conditioners is applied after your hair has been cleaned and towel dried.
Blow-drying can cause breakage to the ends of your hair so towel and air-drying if possible. With the breakage and split ends you hair will have a wild unmanaged look. Eliminating the blow dryer and trimming the split cracked ends will make a world of difference.
Brushing your hair. If you would like your hair to have a satin look than brush your hair with at least one hundred strokes with a good brush at least once a day.
Washing hair on a daily basis can cause your hair to become dry and damaged. The weather can worsen this condition so a decrease in the amount of times you wash your hair to every other day instead of every day can be helpful.
A child’s hair can be fragile. Unless your child gets his or her dirty than washing two to three times a week is all that is needed with a child. Daily washing may be necessary if your child tends to have oily hair. Oily hair may give your child the appearance of having greasy unclean hair so you may need to wash more often.
The spray in type conditioner may be more helpful when dealing with your daughter. Longer hair can get tangled and knotted causing tears and yelling when combing and brushing. Apply Spray-in conditioner on towel-dried hair, which will help detangle the knots making it easier to brush and style.
Trimming your hair every four to six weeks will help keep your hair neat and healthy.
