If you are one that throws out old panty hose than you are throwing out money. Use old worn out or snug panty hose for many household uses. Using items such as old panty hose is considered recycling.
Recycling saves the earth and also saves you money so choose to recycle your old panty hose.
Try using your worn out panty hose to help you out in the following areas:
- Use old panty hose in your garden. Do you tie up your tomato plants or maybe your beans stalk than cut your panty hose in long strips and use the strips to tie up the plants or stalks. Nylons are much gentler on your plants unlike wire or rope.
- Use as an ice pack. You can use your panty hose or nylons as an ice pack by filling a leg with ice, tying the ends and cutting. You could make this ice pack as big or little as you would like and since the ice would be flimsy and flexible enough to wrap around your leg or arm you will find yourself using it all the time. This is also great for small children since you can select the size of ice pack you’d like to make.
- Use as a fishing bait. That’s right when I was younger we would use old nylons as fishing lure. Just take a pair of old nylons and cut into little squares then place a round piece of cheese such as Velveeta in the middle of the nylon and then tie the nylon with a small amount of thread to form a cheese ball. Just place this cheese ball on your fishing hook and wait to catch a big fish.
- Use old nylons to strain old paint. Keep a few extra pairs in the garage so you can use on various old jobs. Straining old paint to rid the paint of unwanted paper, lumps or debris. You will find your paint to be smooth and debris free.
- Use to store onions. You can store onions from your garden in a sack made from an old pair of your nylons or panty hose. The onions from your garden need to be stored in a dry area and the breath holes in the nylons will let your onions get the air they need.
- Storing potatoes. Cut off the legs of the nylons and sew or tie them up then drop your homegrown potatoes down into the top part of the panty hose. You can store about five to ten pounds of potatoes in each pair of panty hose.
- Tie up newspapers. Use strips of nylon to tie up newspapers to keep your newspapers neatly together to set out for recycling.
