As the years go on and things become routine, in your marriage, maybe it is time to spruce it up and give it a little change. If you get a little bored with your bathroom or bedroom, you make small changes, maybe add a little color or change the carpets or bedspread.
The same is true when it comes to your marriage. You love your partner the same today as years ago if not more, but you want to get a little spark back in your relationship. When children come along it’s hard to find that extra attention that your relationship needs.
The following are some ideas that can help you bring back a spark and not feel routine.
- Be more romantic. Bringing romance in the relationship is a must for any married couple.
- Asked your spouse out on a date. Like many married couples dates is a thing in of the past. Plan a romantic evening and put it on both you and your spouse’s calendars, most scheduled things are worked around and would be less likely to be rescheduled.
- Try going on a mini vacation with your spouse. A night away with just you and your spouse will give you an energizing boost that any marriage needs. If you have children ask a close relative to keep them for the night. Grandparents are so grateful for the time they get to spend with their grandchildren. This is also a good thing for your children, being with their grandparents give them different scenery almost like a mini vacation for them also.
- Try surprising your spouse with a call from work just to say “I Love You”, a different voice to talk to during the day can make a big difference.
- Cancel dinner and make plans to go out to eat saving your spouse the trouble of making dinner.
- On occasion bring home roses or her favorite flowers.
- Send a card in your spouse’s briefcase or lunch box. This will show them that you’re thinking about them.
- Try not to belittle your partner. Nagging your spouse will only put a wedge between you. Everyone makes mistakes but constantly putting your spouse down will only cause him to fall out of love. He/She is your partner not a puppy.
- Communicate with each other on a daily basis. A gap will slowly build between the two of you until you’ve drifted apart.
