Quick Fixes for Your Hair

If you use the same shampoo and conditioner all the time, then you may notice that a residue begins to build up on your hair, making it look dull.  You can cut the residue with vinegar.

Before your next shampoo, combine equal parts vinegar and warm water.  After you have washed the shampoo out of your hair, finish by rinsing with the vinegar mixture.  The acid in the vinegar will cut through the residue and will allow your hair to shine.  When you rinse with the vinegar, you can make it smell a little more appealing by infusing it with some fragrant herbs, like mint or rosemary.  In a glass container with a lid, combine equal parts water, vinegar and herbs.  Set the container in a sunny place for a couple of weeks.

Strain it and then use the liquid to rinse your hair.  You can wash soap residue from your hair with a mixture of part lemon juice and three parts water.  Lemon juice can also be used to gradually lighten your hair.  Combine some water and lemon juice in a spray bottle, spray it on your hair, comb it through, and then spend a few hours in the sun with sun screen of course and people will be asking you if you went on vacation.

Condition Your Hair for Less

If you have noticed, the prices for conditioner at the stores and salons are going up and it is getting insane to pay these prices.  You can make your own conditioner at home with ingredients that you already have.  If you have a jar of mayonnaise on hand, you have the perfect conditioner.

Once a month or so, slather lots of mayo in your hair, and then wrap your head in a towel.  Leave the towel on for about thirty minutes, then wash as usual.  The oils in the mayo will condition your hair while the vinegar will cut through the shampoo residue, giving you great shine.  You can also mix three tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of olive oil.
